Biokovo from Baška Voda: Plan a Mountain Day

Biokovo is part of the view from Baška Voda, but visiting the mountain takes a little more planning than walking down to the beach. Start by deciding what you want from the day: a scenic road trip, the Skywalk viewpoint, or a properly planned hike. Those are different outings.

Choose one main goal

The Skywalk at Ravna Vlaška is a glass viewpoint at 1,228 metres above sea level. A visit there does not mean you have visited the summit of Sveti Jure. For a first trip, choosing one main stop leaves more time to enjoy it.

If you are considering a walk, decide on the route separately. Do not turn a viewpoint visit into an unplanned mountain hike simply because a path looks inviting from the car park.

Sort out entry before you leave

The park’s visitor information directs guests to online tickets and controlled vehicle entry. Check the official ticket shop for your date and follow the arrival instructions for your booking.

Use the signed park entrance on the Makarska–Vrgorac road when planning your drive. The mountain rising directly behind Baška Voda does not mean the visitor entrance is directly above your apartment.

Give the mountain road time

The park describes the road as narrow, with passing places. Its opening information also gives seasonal access times. Leave room in your day for the drive and return rather than treating your map’s estimate as a fixed appointment.

If you would rather not drive a mountain road, ask an authorised excursion provider what is included and how the return journey works before reserving.

Pack for the mountain

Bring drinking water, something to eat, suitable shoes and a layer of clothing. Stay on designated visitor routes and follow staff instructions, as set out in the park’s visitor rules. Check current conditions before leaving; views and access cannot be guaranteed by a sunny forecast at the beach.

After the trip, keep the evening simple back in Baška Voda. Our apartments are in the centre, about 20 metres from Nikolina Beach. Ask about your preferred dates if you would like a seaside base for a holiday that includes a mountain day.
